How to use a roll-on deodorant so it dries
A roll-on is a liquid behind a ball. Used the way a stick is used, it leaves you damp. Used its own way, it dries in the time it takes to brush your teeth.
Three steps
- 1
Start clean and dry
Roll it on after a wash, on dry skin. A roll-on spreads a thin film, and it spreads best on skin that is not damp.
- 2
Two or three passes
Tip the bottle so the ball is wet, then roll two or three passes under each arm. More than that only takes longer to dry.
- 3
Let it dry
Give it a moment in the air before you dress. The label calls the formula a lotion, and a lotion needs that moment.
If too much comes out
A full bottle can run fast. One buyer of Aloe Unscented puts it plainly: at first, a bit too much comes out. Hold the bottle level instead of upside down for the first week, and roll with a light hand. As the level drops, tip it further.
If the ball sticks
A ball that has sat for a while can dry in place. Turn the bottle upside down for a few seconds, then roll it on the back of your hand until it moves. Wipe the ball before you cap the bottle and it is less likely to stick again.
A roll-on in a carry-on
A liquid deodorant counts as a liquid at airport security. The Transportation Security Administration sets the size.
One Alvera bottle is 3 fl oz (89 mL), so it passes by size and goes in the quart bag with your other liquids. A pack of bottles belongs in checked baggage.
“These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item.”
Question
In one line
How long does a roll-on deodorant take to dry?
About as long as it takes to brush your teeth, if you roll on 2 or 3 passes and no more. The Alvera label calls its formula a lotion, and a thick layer of lotion dries slowly.
General information, not medical advice. Heavy sweating or a change in body odor is a question for a doctor.
